The founder of Gowa Sportswear, brand owner of Rogelli, is the famous Dutch cyclist Rini Wagtmans. He achieved great success with his company in sporting good. The winning elements he possessed during his glittering career as a professional cyclist in the late sixties, early seventies he carried over to his business. In the Tour de France he achieved the yellow jersey, three stage wins and a 5th and 6th place in the final standings. After his career he was active for a while as coach of the Royal Dutch Cycling Union (KNWU). By the end of 1980 he gave up his sporting career for a business in wholesale sporting goods.
Innovative products by Gowa BV became a trendsetter in cycling. Rini soon saw that they were suitable for other sports. Soon after this insight he concluded contracts with several Dutch sports associations. To sit closer to the fire of superior design and engineering, was Gowa BV, owner of the Italian cycling brand Rogelli. This was ‘officially’ the last feat of owner Rini Wagtmans. He decided to do it to slow in 1996 to make room for the fresh ideas of his son Marijn Wagtmans.
